The CCA alumni library card
Your CCA alumni card serves as your library card. To obtain or activate an alumni library card, go to the circulation desk at either library between the hours of 9-4:30 Monday-Friday. Borrowing privileges are complimentary in the first year after graduation; thereafter cards are $25 per year.
Only alumni living in the Bay Area are eligible for borrowing privileges, and we will ask for another piece of identification that includes your current address.
Please bring your current CCA alumni library card with you each time you visit the library. Your card is non-transferrable and grants library access only to the alumni member.
Loan periods for alumni card holders:
- Books - 2 weeks
- Current magazines - 2 days
- Videos - 2 days
A maximum of 10 items may be checked out at any one time. One renewal is allowed per item, and you may renew items online from the CCA Libraries homepage.
Overdue fines are 25¢ per day for books abd 50¢ per day for videos and magazines. Items that are more than five weeks overdue will be billed for replacement. The bill includes the cost of the book, a $20 processing fee, and a nonrefundable $10 billing fee. There is an additional surcharge of $25 if the item is no longer in print. Alumni who habitually keep items overdue or who have outstanding fines will have their library borrowing privileges revoked.
Library Resources and Services
Most of the library collections are available for alumni use, however, alumni are not eligible to use the materials resource center, to check out course reserve materials, or to use interlibrary loan services.
Alumni may search the library's commercial databases while at the library, but due to licensing restrictions are unable to access them remotely (e.g. from home).
Library computers are an extension of the academic computing facilities and are designated for student and faculty use. Alumni may use these computers when there is sufficient workstation availability. The libraries have wireless internet access, and alumni are encouraged to bring a laptop to use while at the library.
Printing at CCA requires a logon and account. Alumni are not included in this system and therefore are unable to print from computers in the libraries.
Library staff are available to answer basic informational questions, however, extended reference assistance and instruction on how to use library resources are services intended primarily for current CCA students and faculty. Instructions for many resources are linked from the library website.
