Library card for CCA Special Programs faculty

The CCA photo ID generally serves as the CCA library card. Upon registering at the library, a library barcode is affixed to the ID, which permits use of the book, periodical, and video collections, as well as providing login info for off-site access to the library's commercial databases.

Instructors who do not have a CCA photo ID can obtain a temporary library card by registering at the Simpson or Meyer library circulation desk. In order to receive a temporary library card, instructors must either:

a) be on the faculty list provided by CCA Special Programs, or
b) have a copy of their CCA Special Programs contract.

A valid driver's license or other photo ID is also required.

Library privileges are granted through the last day of the month in which the instructor's class ends.

Access and borrowing privileges

Instructors who have a temporary library card may checkout a maximum of 15 items; books circulate for two weeks, with three renewals. Renewals are available online from the library website. Materials from the other campus library may be requested at the circulation desk via intralibrary loan; interlibrary loans from other colleges are available only to faculty with a CCA photo ID.

Acquisition recommendations

All library users are encouraged to recommend materials for the library to acquire; however, the library only purchases materials that support the ongoing college curriculum and that are within the scope of the library's collection policy. Textbooks are purchased only under specially defined circumstances, which do not generally apply to CCA extension courses.

Course reserves

Reserves processing is available for credit courses and for pre-college college courses. The library provides this service for required course readings only. If the library does not own a required reading, instructors may provide a personal copy. The library is not responsible for loss of or damage to personal copies.

CCA extension student privileges

CCA extension students who are not enrolled in a CCA degree program or a CCA course for credit do not have library borrowing privileges, but they are welcome to use library resources and services on-site. This includes students in Summer Atelier and Young Artists Studio Program.

Pre-college and non-degree student privileges

Pre-college students have special privileges and may borrow up to five books and videos. All items are due on the Friday before the session ends. Non-degree students who are enrolled in one or more CCA course for credit, including those in fellows and certificate programs, have the same privileges.

Summer services

The libraries are generally open Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM, beginning the day after the last day of Spring semester classes until the first day of Fall classes. Due to staff vacations during the summer, requests for library services may be subject to a three-week delay; this includes acquisition requests, reserve requests, orientation tours and other instructional services.
