We received a mysterious package in the mail. It included a copper bowl, a polishing cloth branded as “Craftsman,” and a copper bed-warming pan. The package was mailed to the “California College of Arts and Crafts, Oakland,” with no street address, but was successfully redirected to our SF campus by the US Postal Service. It was mailed anonymously from the “Pasadena Main Library” (note that the Pasadena library system has a Central, not Main branch). The shipping box once contained Island Oasis brand garbage bags. The items were packed with a plastic shopping bag and two pages of the March 29, 2020 edition of The Advocate, a daily newspaper in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The only explanation included in this package was a hand-written index card dated 3.12.23 that read “I bought this in Denver. Thank you.” We have taken the items and the packing materials and rendered them as an exhibit.
