What is Google Groups?

Google Groups is a tool that allows for the management of mailing lists and provides a method for communication and collaboration with group members.

How Can it Help You?

Members can read and post messages online or via email as well as search archives of your group's messages. Google Groups can be used to attach a specific group of people to some Google apps.




Examples of Use

Instructors can:

  • Request a Google Group be created for your students so that you can hold rich-media discussions.
  • Use a Google Group to support communication among members of an interest group.

Students can:

  • Discuss classwork in dedicated forums.
  • Use a Google Group to support communication among members of a student organization.

Staff can:

  • Use a Google Group to support communication among department members.
  • Control membership in a Shared drive through the use of a Google Group.

How to Get Started

  • Groups can be accessed at groups.google.com.
    • Click on "My Groups" to find your CCA Groups.
    • Click on the link of your Group.
  • To request a new Group, contact the HelpDesk.
