Summer Break 2019 - Checkouts and Hours

STUDENTS: All items checked out during Spring semester are due the last day of classes (May 10) or sooner

Please return all library material by the due dates listed in your library account. Students will not be able to renew items beyond May 10 until they have updated their library account.

What if I'm not able to return my items until after May 10?
After-hours book returns are available at the entrance of Meyer and Simpson Library for returns while the library is closed. Meyer and Simpson Library will be open Monday to Fridays, 9a-5p throughout the summer. Please note that late fees apply for items returned after their due date, and long overdue or lost library items will cause a hold to be placed on your student record, preventing registration for classes and receipt of transcripts and/or diploma.

Can I keep any items after May 10?
To borrow items after May 10, please view the section below regarding updating your library record.

Borrowing books, magazines, or films during Summer and/or Fall 2019

Can I check out books during the summer?
Items checked out to students during the Spring semester cannot be checked out or renewed beyond May 10 (the last day of classes). However, undergraduate, graduate, and graduating students may check out books during the Summer after updating their library record.

How do I update my library account?
To update your library record, you must:

  • Return all checked-out library material
  • Pay any outstanding late fees and/or replacement costs
  • Be registered for Summer or Fall classes OR scheduled to graduate at the end of Spring 2019
  • Go to the Circulation Desk at either San Francisco or Oakland campus in person

When are items due?
Items checked out during the summer will have the same loan period as they would during the regular Spring or Fall semester.

How soon can I update my account?
You may update your library account as soon as Monday, May 6. You can start borrowing items for the summer immediately after updating your library account and, if you are registered for the Fall, you will not have to update your account again until the end of 2019.

I am graduating after this semester. Can I still check out books?
Yes! Graduating students receive a complimentary CCA Alumni card and library borrowing privileges for the first year after graduation! Come by the circulation desk starting May 6 to set up your alumni library account.

I am not a student. Does this affect me?
Faculty, staff, and alumni may continue to borrow and renew like normal up until their library account’s expiration date. You may check your expiration date by logging into your library account or contacting the circulation desk if you need assistance.
