Introducing our Digital Exhibitions!
We're excited to release a new website today, the CCA Libraries' Digital Exhibitions. These exhibitions are a showcase of the unique digital holdings that the Libraries have as well as the immensely creative work of the students and staff here at California College of the Arts. We present to you three initial exhibitions:
The Book Arts Awards are an annual competition hosted and judged by the Libraries. We receive some of the coolest zines, pamphlets, and genre-defying works from CCA students each year and add the winners to our Artists Book collection. But did you know we've made digital flipbooks of some of the winning submissions? Check them out and be ready to submit your own works come this Spring!
Abecedarium Artists' Books is another look into our tremendous Artists' Books collection, but this time with a specific focus on books that spell out alphabets or alphabetical word lists. These works engage with typography and spelling in inventive ways, varying from new interpretations of the English alphabet to playful acrostic poetry.
NO LEGACY || LITERATURA ELECTRONICA was a 2017 visiting exhibition in Simpson Library using materials borrowed from the original exhibit at UC Berkeley. These bilingual materials are uniquely suitable for a digital exhibition as they explore language in the age of computing via machine-generated poems and hypertextual novels.
We hope you enjoy these digital adventures and look forward to creating more for you.
